Whilst most of us were unwrapping our Easter Eggs, the SWEP team were on a mission to save
a pony who had got herself well and truly stuck in bog… it turned into a life or death situation! The team received a call from a couple of members of the public who were walking on the moor and came across the very distressed pony, who it became clear, had been stuck in the bog for at least 6 hours. This lovely couple stayed with the pony until help arrived and then proceeded to help with the rescue, often ending up knee deep in freezing cold marsh bog.
It truly was an amazing team effort, combining the skills of the SWEP team, helpful members of
the public and a farmer, who arrived on his quad bike with ropes which were the tools they
needed to be able to pull her out…the farmer also visited the pony afterwards to make sure that she was ok.
To quote our Yard Manager…
“All I can say it has really restored my faith in humanity after so much negativity lately and a huge thank you to the gentleman and his wife for not giving up on her and a huge thank you to the
people I work with for giving it everything they could to get her out also getting freezing cold
without so much as a moan, just pure focus on getting her out.. Bunch of good eggs
