SOUTH WEST EQUINE PROTECTION

Duke's Story (cont.)
The EquineTouch works on a completely holistic level as a noninvasive gentle hands-on discipline. Gentle moves over the muscle and connective tissue are used as a muscle release therapy. This results in the release of restricted fascia and hypertonic muscles, improved blood and lymphatic circulation, reduced pain and increased movement. Thus allowing the horse's natural healing system to work at its maximum potential .Late one Tuesday evening Anne Barnett, an Equine Touch advanced student received a call from South West Equine Protection based on Bodmin Moor. The call was a desperate plea for help with a young foal from the moor, that had been rescued from the local market. Anne 's work using the Equine Touch had pleasantly surprised people at SWEP with the positive effects that it had produced on other equines. The diagnosis for the foal was very poor. The vet had confirmed tetanus and only given a 30% chance of survival. |
She worked on one side then rolled the foal over to work on the other and finally the jaw area. As soon as she started to work using the Equine Touch the foal's spasms started to reduce After theTMJ (work on the jaw area) the foal's mouth began to twitch and this gradually increased to chewing, which was an absolutely amazing development from the previously locked jaw! It didn't take the foal long to realise it was being propped on a bale of potential food and it started to munch away!
The next day the foal, now named Duke, was out grazing in the field. Everyone that had given their all to help Duke realised it was worth while. He obviously had a great will to live and was one of life's survivors. Anne continued her work on him as due to a very bad wound on his back leg he was standing with his front legs splayed, but after two further sessions he was standing normally and now you would never know there had ever been anything wrong! |
