Dusty
Dusty, a Bodmin foal caught in the Foot & Mouth Crisis

SPONSORED IN THE GRAND PARADE BY J. M. SUPPLIES

This strawberry roan lightweight cob was born in 2000. .She is one of the 13 foals and yearlings we rescued from Bodmin Moor during the Foot and Mouth Disease crisis. They were found wandering off the moor, down lanes and near to farms searching for good grass and food. Movement restrictions were in place on all animals, and these straying ponies could have spread the disease. MAFF (now DEFRA) contacted local graziers to locate the ponies owners. No one claimed them, and because there is no registration system for Bodmin ponies as there is on Dartmoor, the owners could not be traced. The ponies fate was to be shot by 6 pm the same day. MAFF contacted SWEP to ask if we could do anything to help.

When she was well enough she was fostered out to a home on our loan scheme, but due to family problems came back to us.
She then went down to Trenance Riding Stables and has been kept busy and meeting lots of people ever since. She has gone from a scruffy looking pony to a beautiful pink grey and has found her way into the heart of a young lady named Amber who contacted us recently to find out about her.

Proudly on Parade
