SWEP Rescue
Missy

Missy is an orphaned filly foal. When we brought her back from Bodmin Moor her survival was far from certain, our Vet told us that had she not been rescued she would have had very little time left to live.
She was 10 weeks old, and had been seen trying to get by on her own for the previous six weeks. The other mares in the herd were biting and kicking her when she tried to suckle from them (the picture above shows healing bite wounds), and consequently she was very dehydrated and weak by the time we were called in. Naturally she was very hungry and thirsty when we got her back to the yard. She was also infested with worms and lice.

After getting over being so dangerously dehydrated, Missy is making good progress (apart from one occasion when she made a bit of pig of herself and had a touch of colic as a result). She has even started her first lessons in being handled.

Update October 2004
Missy has come along in leaps and bounds. She is now 8 months old and ready to be rehomed with someone who can continue her education through these important 'growing up' years.

Update 2005

Missy is fit and well and has been successfully rehomed.
