The 2006 AGM and MEMBERS AWARD NIGHT will be at the Westward Inn, Lee Mill at 7 p.m. 24 November 2006.

The postponed 2005 AGM and Members Awards was held in the Westward Inn, Lee Mill on 10 Feb 06.

Maureen Rolls presented the AGM and covered the following points:

• Committee resignations and the new members (Current Committee names can be found on the HOME Page).

• New Membership Prices  (New prices can be found on the BECOME A MEMBER Page).

• SWEP has a new Accountant (should anyone wish to see the account summary please contact Maureen).

• Funds (Maureen explained how the £35,000 a year SWEP needs to to operate is raised; Shows, Donations, Fundraising, Charity Shop, Mailing out, Equine Fair, to name just a few.)

• Publicity has been very good, (Local TV, Local and National Press, Horse Magazines etc.) this is raising the profile of SWEP and as a result more calls are being made for assistance.

• Horse Passports.  (SWEP has been finding it difficult to get back Passports for returned loaned Ponies.  In future, a £50 deposit will be required at the start of loan. This deposit is to cover the Admin costs should a new Passport be required.  The deposit will be repaid if the Passport is returned.)

• During 2005 SWEP saw far less Ponies in trouble on Bodmin Moor.

• SWEP took on 20 Ponies in 2005, sadly 3 died, and now owns 220.

• SWEP attended and offered advice for 85 Moorland Ponies and Private owners.  (A case of a Horse Dealer prosecuted by the Police was used as an example of the sort of behaviour SWEP is keen to eradicate.)

• The importance of the Charity Shop as a fundraiser was emphasised (Click for the CHARITY Shop Page).

• The Newsletter will now be distributed every 6 months.

Gill Ross and Rhiana Orchard took the opportunity to thank the Committee and all the helpers for their hard work on behalf of the Senior and Junior Members respectively.
