Our Work Continued (Even More Stories)
Updated 17th November 2006
Mare (Mary) and Yearling Colt (Teddy) came to SWEP's attention in 2005 when they were part of a herd an Irish Dealer dumped into a very small field. As per Bramble, Pickle and friends. All were starving to death. A lady offered Mary and Teddy a field. Mary has since produced another colt foal (Whiz).
All three are now at our SWEP yard, Teddy needs castrating. All three need to be handled and then we will be looking for a loan home / homes.
Mare (Misty) and filly foal (Angel) are pictured at Hallworthy market. Misty was thin and very depressed. SWEP bought her, after bidding against Irish Dealers to save Misty from a journey to who knows where.
Four days after arriving at our SWEP yard Misty aborted a filly foetus, obviously the trauma of the market was too much for her. Misty is safe and eating well and has allowed me (Maureen) to detangle her mane. Misty is a kind loving mare.
MURPHY - Taken 31st October 2006
Murphy is a Dartmoor colt foal. Mare was killed in a road traffic hit and run accident. Farmer found his pony dead in a ditch and could see she had an udder but the foal was not to be seen.
After 7 days of looking the foal was located and removed from the moor. Farmer asked SWEP to take the foal in.
Murphy is doing well, drinking his mares replacement milk with 'Fudge' another orphaned foal as company.
