Updated 5th February 2007

27th December 2006 - SWEP, with their Vet, attended a very emaciated T.B Chestnut Gelding who had collapsed, causing the local villagers much concern.

The horse was being fed by a friend of the owner who was away.  The owner was informed the horse had collapsed and a huntsman arrived to shoot the horse.

It took much patience but after the several attempts the horse managed to get up but could not put any weight on his nearside hind leg.  The leg was very swollen as a result of very bad mud fever.

Nearby stables took the horse in and put it in a dry stable out of the mud.

Painkillers, antibiotics, hay, food and tender loving care (TLC) were prescribed.  Under veterinary care the horse is on the road to recovery.

The owner returned and a dentist has attended the horse.  A strict feeding, worming and walking regime is in place.

SWEP is monitoring the horse's welfare.
