We are hungryWe need wormingIn the Exeter area 4 ponies in poor condition (emaciated, not wormed, long hooves and one with sweet itch).  In September 2003 their owners moved to the other side of Reading and left the ponies in their field.  They had no fresh water, grass or food.  The owners visited several times in 8 months.

We are thirstyPlease helpOn advice from a Vet and with police permission SWEP took the horses into their care.  This action was not taken in haste, SWEP had monitored  the ponies for 6 weeks, arranged numerous Vet examinations and had proof that the owners had abandoned them.

However, the owners were given back the 4 ponies after an inspector from a uniformed welfare society intervened and the police dropped their prosecution.
