When fit and
well, our horses and ponies are rehomed on a loan basis, rather
than being sold on. Because we have taken on life long
responsibility for our rescues, we have a duty of care to ensure
their future welfare. We take this commitment very seriously and
run a scheme of six monthly inspections. These inspections are
an opportunity for us to check that the horse's or pony's
needs are still being met, for the foster carers to get any
advice they need, and finally, and certainly not least, for us
to have a small share in the joy of a happy ending for our
rescues.
Due to our
requirement to visit our loan ponies twice a year, we do not
normally rehome outside of the SouthWest (see the map of the area
we cover).

If you would like to be considered as a loan home
there are a number of ways to apply:

At the Yard ready for
re-homing
THYME
– 12.1hh - Grey Mare - Born 2003

Thyme is a registered Dartmoor pony that came in from a private
owner whose change of circumstances meant she could no longer look
after her. Thyme can be a little mareish, so will need to go with
another dominant pony. She does suffer with sweet itch, but not
severe. She has been backed and is still green, so could be ridden
by a child, possibly lead reign at first. Thyme is not good in
traffic. We would be happy for Thyme to be a companion to another
pony or horse.
BLAZE –
13.3hh - Liver Chestnut Gelding - Born 2001

Blaze is a Welsh pony with a strong character. He is a handsome
chap who will make a great companion to another horse. He can be
ridden, but is a strong ride and prone to bolting. Blaze
suffers with Laminitis so will need restricted grazing. We would be
happy to home him purely as a companion.
BLISLAND SANDSTORM –
Strawberry Roan Gelding - Born 2008

Sandstorm was given to SWEP from Hallworthy Market as he was
destined to be shot. He is quite timid at the moment but a very
sweet character. He is catchable and good with the farrier.
Not going to make a great height and is very chilled for a young
pony.
EMILY
– 11.2hh

Taken from the market as she had a young foal with her (Jasper) and
then when at the yard we discovered she was in foal again. She
later produced Milo. Emily is a very gentle character looking
for the quiet life and will make a steady companion.
FLYNN
– 10.2hh - Black Gelding - Pony - Born July 2008

Flynn is a recent addition to the yard from a private owner. They
could no longer look after him due to illness in the family. He is
a handsome chap, who won’t make any great height, so could become a
charming companion.
TOFFEE
– 11.3hh - Black Mare - Dartmoor Hill Pony - Born
May 2009

She is a very friendly and affectionate pony that will make a quiet
little companion. We are not expecting her to become very big.
ASH
– 11.2hh - Roan Gelding - Born 2000

A great lead reign pony that is very good with young children.
Loves fuss and attention. He will need an experienced home to take
him off of the lead reign. He would also make a steady companion to
another horse or pony.
BORIS -
10hh -
Skewbald Gelding - Born 2008

Boris is a very
gentle and calm Shetland pony who will be a great companion. He is
very quiet and doesn’t look to bother other ponies which he is
around.
At the SWEP
yard but not yet ready for re-homing
WHIZZY
- 9hh – Skewbald Colt - Pony - Born 2009

Whizzy came in with Flynn. He is a lovely little pony with a lot of
character. Again he won’t make any great height so would be ideal
for a companion. He is still very nervous and proving tricky
to catch. With a little more work he will soon be ready for re
homing.
AUTUMN
– 13hh - Grey Mare - Born 1995

Autumn came from the market a few years ago. She had a foal at foot
whilst in foal again. She has been in a home and been worked on,
but is still very nervous and keen to have a quiet life.
FRAZER
– Black Colt - Shetland - Born April 2009

Frazer is a lovely little
fellow, who is still a little nervous. With a little more work he
will be a good companion for other ponies or horses.
BUTTERSCOTCH
– Skewbald Colt - Dartmoor Hill Pony -
Born May 2009

With unusual colouring he
is a charming little pony. Some more work is needed on him, but he
will also make a lovely companion.
ELLA
– Grey Mare - Dartmoor Hill Pony - Born
May 2009

Still a little nervous, but once worked on will be good as a
companion or may have the potential to become a child’s riding pony.
OCTOBER
– Skewbald Mare - Dartmoor Hill Pony -
Born May 2009

October is the most
nervous of all the foals, so will need a little more work to make
her catchable and handled for vets and farriers. She has an unusual
colouring and may also have the potential to become a child’s riding
pony.
WORTHY
- 9hh - Shetland Bay Gelding -
Born 2008

He has just been gelded and needs more work to handle him. He is a
hansome chap who will be a good companion, once he has settled a bit
more.
LLOYD -
10hh - Coloured Pony - Born 2008

Lloyd has also just been gelded and is still very nervous. Will
need a bit more handling before he can be rehomed.
XERA
– Spotted Mare - Born 2008

Xera came to us as the owner could not afford to keep her and she
had a reputation of kicking out. She is currently being monitored
and worked on at the yard and we hope to be ready for re-homing
soon. She is a spirited mare who is expected to make a good
height. She could make a lovely show pony and possibly ridden.
Will need an experienced home to bring her on.
Not at SWEP yard but will be ready for
re-homing soon
MOUSEY
– 13.2hh - Grey Mare - Born 1999

Came in from market and was in foal. Mousey is currently on
holiday to another centre who will work on her to enable us to
re-home her. She is responding well so we hope this won’t be for
too long.
BILLY
–
Coloured Colt - Dartmoor Pony - Born May 2009

Billy was discovered by Ten Tor walkers on his own with no Dam in
sight. He followed the walkers to their checkpoint, where we were
contacted and took Billy in. He is a cheeky lad with lovely blue
eyes. He would make a good companion, but could have potential in
the future to be brought on if his new home wanted to. He is not
expected to become too big.
TILLY
– Coloured Mare - Dartmoor Pony - Born May 2009

Tilly was born at our SWEP yard. Her dam was very poorly and we
nursed her through to have Tilly and give her that essential care in
the first few months of Tilly’s life. Unfortunately, Sophie did not
get any better so Tilly became an orphan. She is a very pretty mare
who is expected to make a reasonable height. She is already prone
to jumping the electric fence so could be destined to carry this on
professionally when older. Would make a lovely companion initially,
but we would like her to go to a home to bring her on in the future.

BART (SLATER) –

Bart has been very successful in the pony club scene, winning lots
of rosettes in Show Jumping. He is a strong, sharp ride being
suitable for a small adult or very keen teenager.
