All of the ponies go through a rehabilitation process once at the yard.  We work on the ponies to enable them to be caught and they are handled so that they can be seen by a vet and farrier.  They will all be rehomed with their feet being seen to, vaccinations up to date and their teeth will be checked if necessary.  Once we are happy the pony is ready for rehoming then they will appear on this list.

Visits to the yard are by appointment only and will only be arranged once your home check is done.

Mousey
   Born – estimated 1996

    Colour- Grey  

  Suitability – Companion

Mousey was bought by SWEP at a market. She had an extreme fear of people and was particularly fearful of people touching her head. She has been rehabilitated at a charity in the mid/north Devon area and we are looking for a special person to take Mousey on as a companion pony. Mousey is only willing to trust people that she knows and will be wary of strangers – therefore we are looking for a home with someone who is willing to take the time to form a bond with Mousey. Once she knows you, you will have a friend for life – she is good to catch, groom, have her feet picked up. She is a very sweet, gentle mare and is good with other horses and ponies. She is a very healthy pony who has never had laminitis, although her grazing will need to be monitored. She can live in or out, but she will need to be stabled in bad weather. Jupiter

  Born – 2009

  Height – 11hh

  Colour – Grey & white

  Sex – Gelding

Suitability – Companion

Jupiter is a lovely little pony who can be a little nervous, but don’t let that put you off!! Once he trusts a person he will follow them around and be caught. Once caught he will stand beautifully and be groomed and he picks all four feet up. He is good with the farrier and the vet.

Lexi

  Born – 2007
  Height – 11.3hh
  Sex – Mare
  Colour – Dark Bay
  Suitability – Companion

Lexi came to the charity when she was very young as she had been hit by a car and had a bad cut to her leg.  She was nursed back to good health and hand reared at the yard.  She is a big character with no fear of humans.  She is very friendly making her good to catch and handle.  Lexi would make a good companion although may be a little dominent, and she could also be brought on as a child’s riding pony as she has had some work done on her.  Lexi is not very good with dogs.

Pippa

  Born – 2005

  Height – 11.2hh

  Sex – Mare

  Colour – Dark brown

Suitability – Companion

Pippa is a very sweet mare who leads well and loves a groom and fuss, she enjoys going on her daily walks. She is an extremely good doer and easily becomes over weight, she will need to be on a very strict diet and have restricted grazing. She has suffered with laminitis and does have flare ups of metabolic syndrome so if/ when this happens she may need medication. We are looking for a someone who is aware of these conditions and has experience in controlling and treating them if they were to flare up and who will maintain Pip at a healthy weight.

Sky

  Born – Unknown, we think Sky is 5-6 years old

  Height – 12.2hh

  Sex – Mare

  Colour – Dark brown

Suitability – Companion

Sky came into our care in January, 2011, straight off the moor. She had a large growth on her ear which was operated on, half her ear needed to be removed along with the growth. This healed up beautifully and Sky has no problems with having only half an ear. Since coming into our care Sky has had a filly foal, Crystal, who she raised perfectly and who has now been weaned. Sky has come along really well and can be caught, led and groomed.  Sky is a very confident, inquisitive mare and has never shown any signs of aggression. She did suffer slight Sweet itch whilst pregnant so this will need to be monitored and controlled if it were to flare up again.

Piper

  Born – 2009

  Height – 11.2hh

  Colour – Piebald

  Sex – Gelding

Suitability – Companion, possible back, pony agility

Piper was part of a group of colts who came into our care when they were still very young. He was quite nervous but now is full of confidence. He gets on with most ponies and is very easy to catch and good to lead. He likes to be groomed, however he does get bored easily. He has tried his hand at pony agility, which he enjoyed. Piper is a lovely pony with a cheeky character

Boo

  Born -2008

  Height – 11hh

  Sex – Gelding

  Colour – Skewbald

Suitability – Companion only

Boo is a lovely little pony who came to us from a market, he is a Bodmin pony. We believe he is partially sighted, hence only being suitable as a companion pony. Boo has suffered with sweet itch in the past but since coming back to the rehabilitation yard he has shown no signs. Boo is good to catch, lead, groom and have his feet handled and gets on well with most ponies.

Solomon

  Born – 2004

  Height – 14.3hh

  Sex – Gelding

  Colour – Bay

Suitability – Companion

Solomon came back to us due to no fault of his own, he did have an issue with loading but we have worked with him to build his confidence. He now loads but we have discovered he is a nervous traveler. Solomon is 8 years old and has not been backed or broken, we are not aware of the reasons behind this so he is currently suitable as a companion only. He is a gentle chap with a large stature.

 Trinity

  Born – 2011

  Height – 10hh and growing

  Sex – Filly

  Colour – Dark brown/ black

Suitability – Companion

Trinity came in with her mother Venus, she has been weaned and we have been working on her manners, she is extremely strong willed however she is a loving, playful filly. She currently has her front feet picked up and loves to be groomed and can be caught easily. Trinity is looking for a home with secure fencing, as she has been know to get through electric fencing, and experience with youngsters.

Red

  Born – 2011

  Height – 10hh

  Colour – Bright bay

  Sex – Filly

Suitability – Companion

Red is a smashing filly. She is Rowans daughter, like her mother she is a very strong girl however she is responding well to her training. Red can be caught easily, leads well, understands boundaries and has all four feet picked out.

Minnie

  Born – 2011

  Height – 11hh

  Sex – Filly

  Colour – Dark brown

Suitability – Companion, backed when old enough

Minnie is the largest and most placid of our fillies, she has a very calm nature and is very easy to work with. She is extremely easy to catch, she leads well and will have all four feet picked out.

India

  Born – 2010

  Height – 14hh

  Sex – Mare

  Colour – Grey & White

Suitability – Companion

India is a Fell x pony, she has come from a loving home and through no fault of her own. She is a shy mare who has come out of her shell. She currently leads and has her feet picked up.

Patchy

  Born – 2011

  Height – 11.2hh

  Sex – Filly

  Colour – Skewbald

Suitability – Companion

Patchy was bought in from Hallworthy Market in 2011, she was extremely traumatised and suffering from shock. She has come a long way and now comes to people for a bit of fuss. Patchy has been halter broken and leads well. Patchy will need a home that is experienced with youngsters and willing to carry on building her confidence.

Rolo

  Born – 1998

  Height – 10hh

  Sex – Gelding

  Colour – White/ Grey

Suitability – Companion only

Rolo is an adorable Shetland pony with a kind nature and a big character, he is very vocal and will “talk” to you when approaching/entering the paddock or feeding him. Rolo is laminitic and will have to be on restricted grazing and be on a strict diet. We are preferably looking for someone who has experience with laminitic’s and who isn’t put off by his condition. Rolo leads perfectly, loves attention and he really enjoys being groomed, he is good with children although he is not a riding pony.

Davey

  Born – 2011

  Height – 11hh and growing

  Sex – Gelding

  Colour – Skewbald

Suitability – Companion

Davey came in with Patchy from Hallworthy market. He was extremely traumatised and suffering from shock and a broken tail. His tail has since recovered and he is now a confident happy pony. He is halter broken, is easy to catch, has his feet picked up and loads well. Davey is looking for a home that is experienced with youngsters who will bring him on.

Summer

Summer is a beautiful mare with one blue eye, she came in with India and Freedom from a loving home. She has been well handled and is easy to catch and lead.

Freedom is Summers daughter and she is a finely built Fell X pony. She is halter broken, leads and has her feet picked up. She is an inquisitive youngster who will do very well in the right home. Freedom will need an experienced home that is used to handling larger youngsters.
